A gift to share this Mother’s Day

On Sunday 30th, I have a date with my two girls – a (girls only) lunch at our fabulous and fun local 1950s diner. I can’t wait! It’s going to be such fun, with a retro jukebox blowing out top tunes of the ‘50s (naturally), fabulous squishy-squashy booths to snuggle into, and endless yummy family favourites like corn on the cob, oven-baked potatoes and big homemade burgers, plus ice cream milkshakes. What could be more heavenly? I can’t wait to share Mothering Sunday with my two little lasses.

As I sit here planning the day, I think back to gorgeous baby boomers and jiving girls of the 1950s, back to when skincare really wasn’t as easy and accessible as it is now. Cold cream to cleanse, gloopy night creams, plus thick blushes and heavy pan-stick foundations really didn’t make for skincare heaven! And yet botanicals have always been part of our lives, and as the human race has evolved, so have the botanicals around us. We’ve used them on our skin to soothe and heal, we’ve consumed them… so it really does make sense to use them in our products, as we do at Liz Earle.

  • They’re safe and time-tested (just read about the traditional uses of eyebright, found in our Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion; or cooling aloe vera, used across the range from Instant Boost Skin Tonic to our Botanical Aftersun Gel; or kigellia, featured in our Superskin range).
  • Botanicals are skin-compatible, working in synergy with the skin’s natural oils (sebum).
  • They’re the key to healthy, radiant skin, day in, day out. Whatever the weather or season, whatever life throws at you, they are your constant – reliable, always delivering, always gently maintaining the skin’s balance and supporting its most basic function.

Whatever your age, it’s never too late to start experiencing the wonder of amazing ‘Liz Earle skin’ – and never too late to share the secret with your loved ones. What about a surprise gift for your daughter on Mothering Sunday? What’s the greatest gift a mother can give her daughter – probably a kind ear, endless love or pearls of carefully-worded wisdom… but actually the gift of great skin is something every Liz Earle mummy should be sharing. My little ones started early – Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash baths, Cleanse & Polish for face paint removing, Eyebright for itchy eyes, Superskin or Superbalm on sore patches of skin… but really, I can’t wait to share my beauty secrets with them when they hit their teens. I always wax lyrical about this, but it does tickle me that my mother and I both use the very same products – skincare, make-up, haircare – all Liz Earle. And yet we are in different decades: 30s & 60s. And now, we have three generations: Grannie (mid 60s), Mummy (38), the girls (aged just two and six). Different ages, stages and skin types – but we’re all addicted to the Liz Earle range.

Enjoy Mothering Sunday – and don’t forget to drop a helpful hint (or two!) about how much you’d love to try our new Indulgent Bath & Body collection! Do share your favourite stories about the day here, for us and others to read and enjoy.
